Documentation Is Part of the Product.
Your documentation shouldn’t feel like an afterthought. It’s often where users go when they’re confused, stuck, or deciding whether your product is worth the effort. Kyobutungi creates documentation with the same care you put into the product itself—clear enough for users to navigate, structured enough for teams to maintain, and scalable enough to grow alongside your software. Whether we’re building a knowledge base from the ground up, modernizing years of legacy content, documenting a new feature, or preparing content for AI, the goal stays the same:
Why work with us?
We Make Complex Things Clear
Complex software doesn’t need complicated documentation. We translate technical information into clear, useful content your users and teams can actually understand.

We Build for the Long Term
Your documentation should grow with your product instead of becoming tomorrow’s cleanup project. We create scalable structures and standards that make content easier to update, expand, and maintain.

We Think Beyond the Page
Good documentation isn’t just about writing—it’s about structure, usability, and the entire information experience. We consider how people search, navigate, understand, and maintain your content.

We Can Work With What You Already Have
Starting from scratch isn’t always necessary. We can audit, reorganize, rewrite, and modernize existing documentation while preserving the knowledge worth keeping.

We Understand Software
We bring hands-on experience documenting software products, features, & troubleshooting processes. That means less time explaining your product to your technical writer and more time getting the documentation right.

We Write for Humans and AI
Modern documentation needs to work for people, search engines, support tools, and AI-powered experiences. We structure content so it’s clear to human readers while making it easier for intelligent systems.

Meet Jacqueline
The brain behind Kyobutungi Team
Built by someone who's been inside the documentation mess.
Writer by instinct. Systems thinker by experience. Documentation nerd by choice.
Jacqueline Kyobutungi Thomas, or Kyo for short, is the founder and principal documentation consultant behind Kyobutungi.
With more than 15 years of experience turning complicated ideas into clear, useful content, Kyo has spent much of her recent career working in software documentation and knowledge systems.
She's built knowledge bases from scratch, worked with decades-old documentation, collaborated across engineering, product, QA, support, and subject-matter experts, and helped prepare large knowledge systems for AI-powered support.
Through it all, she's developed one stubborn belief: If people can't find, understand, and use the information, the documentation isn't doing its job.
Kyobutungi brings that philosophy to every project, along with curiosity, organization, and a genuine love of making complicated things make sense.

About our Name
You’ve never met a Kyobutungi before, huh?
And you probably don’t know how to pronounce it.
That’s okay. I’ve gotten that all my life. Kyobutungi (pronounced Cho-Boo-Tune-Gee) is a name from the Banyankole people of Western Uganda. It means one who brings treasures, riches, or abundance.
Long before it became the name of this consultancy, Kyobutungi was the name my father gave me as part of my Banyankole heritage. And while it may be an unusual name for a documentation company, I think it fits surprisingly well.
Kyobutungi means bringing something of value. This Kyobutungi brings clarity. Software can be complex. Your customers shouldn’t have to understand everything happening behind the scenes to use it confidently. They need to know what to do, how to do it, and where to turn when something doesn’t work the way they expected.
That’s what good documentation gives them. Clarity helps customers understand what you’ve built, use it with confidence, and get more from the software they’ve invested in. And that’s what we want to bring to every project we touch:
Kyobutungi Philosophy
We believe documentation should never be an afterthought.
It is part of how people experience your product especially when they are learning something new, trying to solve a problem, or deciding what to do next.
That means good documentation has to do more than be technically accurate. It should be clear, easy to navigate, easy to maintain, and built around the needs of the people using it.
At Kyobutungi, we start with understanding: the product, the user, the information they need, and the questions they are likely to ask. Then we bring structure to complexity, turning technical knowledge into content that feels intuitive and useful.
We also think beyond individual pages. Documentation is a system. Information architecture, terminology, consistency, searchability, content standards, maintenance, and increasingly AI retrieval all influence whether that system actually works.
And we build with tomorrow in mind. Products change. Teams grow. Features evolve. Technology moves quickly. Your documentation should be able to evolve with them without requiring you to start over every few years.
Our philosophy is simple:
Understand the complexity. Create the structure. Make it clear.
